MeDic :: About
I came up with the idea for a medical spell-check dictionary one day while I was spell-checking some notes of mine for school. I got tired of hitting "Add to dictionary" every five seconds, so I decided to do something about it. A quick Internet search turned up a few medical dictionaries, but nothing that was really useful in the way of spell-checking documents. I wanted to create something that was free and would be useful to other people as well. This is something that I work on in my spare time, so it's not as comprehensive as Stedman's, but it's got more than some other "shareware" dictionaries. But it also doesn't cost as much as Stedman's, seeing as how Stedman's is ~$100, and mine costs nothing.
When I finished the first version, I couldn't decide on a name for it, so I asked for some suggestions. Among the best were "Doctionary," "Sicktionary," and "MeDic." I settled on MeDic because it was the most reasonable of the three, and I thought it sounded cool.
MeDic is a perpetual work-in-progress. If you have any words you would like added, please visit my contributions page. What is up now for download is the product of many many hours refining and verifying accuracy.
A note on accuracy:
I have endeavored to make sure that all words are spelled correctly, opting to remove a word entirely if I wasn't 100% certain that it was right. It's better to be incomplete than inaccurate. Nonetheless, there may be some mistakes. If you find any, please let me know.
